QuatreS Café Bordeaux

The QuatrèS Café Bordeaux is located on the ground floor of the Hôtel des 4 Soeurs in a magnificent bourgeois building with simple and elegant lines.

A Bordeaux institution since 1841

It is one of the few Bordeaux establishments to have preserved its original decor dating from 1841. Already at the time of the Second Empire, the allées de Tourny and the cours du XXX-Juillet were the most popular places for entertainment. The crowds would flock there after the shows at the Grand-Théâtre and during major celebrations.

On the ground floor, the main living room is distinguished by a stucco cornice decorated with mascarons and consoles. In the center of the ceiling, a false dome is highlighted by a crown with an oak leaf motif, which has recently regained its decorative charm in the graceful style of François Boucher. 

The floor of this first room is decorated with small mosaic cubes, creating an effect typical of the large bourgeois residences of the period. The tormented shapes of the door paneling reveal the influence of Art Nouveau and suggest a possible redesign of the main living room around 1900.
